Power restored in Norfolk after vandalism

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Dominion Virginia Power has restored power to thousands of customers in Norfolk Friday evening after equipment was vandalized.

At 5:30 p.m., the company cut power to more than 5,200 customers while crews made emergency repairs to vandalized equipment on Admiral Taussig Boulevard. Spokeswoman Bonita Billingsley Harris said the repairs were completed at 6:34 p.m.

Dominion was not able to provide WAVY.com with specific information about areas affected. Norfolk Police were not able to give WAVY.com any information about the criminal investigation into the vandalism.

According to the company’s website, Dominion serves a total of 95,236 customers in Norfolk.
