HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton Police have arrested the suspect in a shooting that seriously injured a man on Memorial Day.
Police identified 20-year-old Divine Raquan Grayson in connection with the shooting on Thursday and took him into custody in the evening.
The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Libbey Street and West Kelly Avenue. Officers found a man in the road with gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries. He is still in critical, but stable, condition.
Investigators learned the victim and Grayson new each other, and got into a verbal fight. Police said Grayson allegedly displayed a gun and then shot the victim.
Grayson is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
