NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A woman says she was punched, kicked and stabbed by her boyfriend. Now he is behind bars facing a long list of charges.
The victim, a 24-year-old Newport News woman, told investigators she and her boyfriend, Lorenzo Baptist, got into a fight at a relative’s house. When they returned to their home in the 300 block of 73rd Street, that’s when the victim says Baptist started to assault her.
The victim said she waited until Baptist fell asleep, then ran from the home and called police. When officers arrived, they met up with the woman, who had bruising on her neck, stab wounds on her arms and a large cut on her hand. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The officers were unable to locate Lorenzo Baptist that day.
They caught up with him four days later, on May 28, and arrested him on the outstanding warrants for abduction, malicious wounding, felony assault and battery 3rd offense, felony larceny 3rd offense and preventing contact with law enforcement.
