VBPD seeks armed and dangerous homicide suspect

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Police are asking for the public’s help in a homicide case involving a security worker killed in a shooting last month.

MPO Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers were dispatched to Tropical Delights Restaurant and Lounge located in the 6200 block of Indian River Road May 21 just before 11 p.m. for a report of a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, they found Tyrone Martin, 53, of Philadelphia suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. Martin worked as security at the business.

The investigation led detectives to a suspect, identified as 27-year-old Andrew Wesley Roberts of Chesapeake. Warrants were obtained for murder, carrying a concealed weapon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and aggravated malicious wounding.

Additionally, warrants were obtained for Chezmin Brittany Suter, 22, of Chesapeake for accessory after the fact, obstructing justice and attempt to commit a misdemeanor.

Suter was taken into custody, but Roberts remains on the lam.

Investigators are also working to identify another woman seen with the suspect on surveillance footage. She is described as a white female between the ages of 25 to 30, standing 5’6” and weighing 130 to 140 pounds. She has long, sandy brown hair and was wearing a black v-cut shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident. Police say she was carrying a blue or aqua green handbag.
