CHOWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Residents who still need help following the April tornadoes in North Carolina have a deadline coming up.

Those affected by the severe weather on April 25 in Beaufort, Camden, Chowan, Craven, Gates, Hyde, Martin, Pamilco, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt and Washington counties have until July 14 to apply for a Disaster Home or Business Loan with the US Small Business Administration.

You’re eligible for a loan if you rent or own a home in one of those areas. Some business owners or small agricultural cooperatives may be eligible, as well, according to Susanne Stallings, a Chowan County spokeswoman.

To apply, contact SBA’s Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center by calling (800) 659-2955, emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov, or visiting SBA’s website at www.sba.gov/disaster.

Applicants can also use the Electronic Loan Application via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.

Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals may call (800)877-8339.
