Man detained in Ocean View barricade situation

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A barricade situation in Norfolk has ended with the subject in custody.

Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department said officers were called to the 9500 block of 21st Bay Street around 9:30 a.m. for a report of a man threatening another person with a weapon.

About 20 minutes later, a crisis negotiator was called to the scene to try to make contact with the man. Investigators later learned no one else was inside the home.

Around 11:45 a.m., Officer Daniel Hudson with the Norfolk Police Department said the man came out of the home and is now in police custody.

No one was hurt. Hudson said the man is not facing charges at this time and will undergo a mental evaluation.
