PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Students at Churchland Academy Elementary School were taken to another school after a threat Tuesday.
Det. Misty Holley with the Portsmouth Police Department said a student made a verbal bomb threat around 9:40 a.m. Both the principal and the fire marshal decided to evacuate the school.
As a result, students from Churchland Academy Elementary School were taken to Churchland High School by bus until dogs could finish going through the school building.
Deputy Fire Chief Mike Stockton with the Portsmouth Fire Department said the school was cleared and students were bused back from the high school to the academy.
