About 10,000 lose power in Hampton, NN

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Thousands of customers were without power for hours in Hampton and Newport News Monday evening.

Janelle Hancock with Dominion Virginia Power told WAVY.com around 5 p.m. about 10,000 customers were without power in the Hampton and Newport News areas. Crews were looking for the source of the outage and believe it to be an issue with a transformer inside a substation.

Around 7:15 p.m., Hancock said nearly all customers had power again, with just 3,200 still without power in the two cities.
