Diver rescued off Hatteras Inlet

HATTERAS INLET, N.C. (WAVY) – A 52-year-old diver was rescued Sunday about 18 miles southeast of Hatteras Inlet.

According to a news release from the Coast Guard, the captain of the dive boat Under Pressure contacted the Coast Guard around 3 p.m. about a diver who was suffering from signs of decompression sickness.

Watchstanders launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew to help. The crew arrived and took the man onto their boat, and brought him to Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet. The diver was met by a Coast Guard aircrew, and was taken to Sentara Leigh Hospital.

No additional information about the rescue was released.
