PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A celebration of cultural diversity is underway in Portsmouth. The 24th annual Umoja Festival is free and open to the public, with plenty of good food and good music.

The word ‘Umoja’ means ‘unity’ in Swahili. Organizers say the festival emulates unity in our community and across the nation.

Festival-goers will enjoy a variety of music, from Reggae to jazz, as well as activities for the whole family.

The Umoja Festival runs through Sunday.
