NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a toddler received minor injuries when hit by an SUV in Newport News Friday evening.
Around 6:30 p.m., police received a 911 call about a child hit by a vehicle at the Soaps n Suds at 776 J Clyde Morris Boulevard, according to Holly McPherson with Newport News Police.
An investigation indicates the mother was walking to her SUV and thought her two-year-old daughter was being watched by a relative. The child ran after the mother and was hit by the SUV, McPherson said.
The toddler is currently at a local hospital, under observation for injuries that are not life-threatening. McPherson said no broken bones or anything of that nature have been found.
At this time, there are no charges.
