NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say a fugitive from Ohio was caught in Norfolk Sunday afternoon.

Norfolk police received at tip from the Sandusky Police Department that 26-year-old Mohammad Hamad of Sandusky, Ohio was hiding in Norfolk. He was wanted for a home invasion and robbery last Wednesday when an elderly woman was ambushed and restrained with duct tape while two men robbed her of expensive jewelry.

Norfolk police, the NCIS Norfolk Office and the Virginia Beach Police Department investigated the tips and were able to locate Hamad just three days after the incident.

Around 1 a.m. Sunday, the Norfolk Fugitive Squad arrested Hamad at the Navy Lodge on Hampton Boulevard. He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail pending extradition to Ohio.
