PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A youth minister accepted a plea deal in a case involving sex crimes against minors through his church.

Bill Prince with the Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office told WAVY.com Brian Norris pled guilty to two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor while in a custodial relationship. Five other charges were withdrawn as a result of the plea agreement.

Norris was arrested after detectives hear about him having inappropriate relations with minors while he was a youth minister at Western Branch Baptist Church. Police said Norris came in contact with the victims through youth group activities.

The youth group included students in grades six through 12.

Prince said Norris faces a maximum of 10 years behind bars when sentenced.
