5 people displaced after trailer fire

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Five people were displaced after a trailer fire in Newport News Thursday afternoon.

Around 3:20 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to Christian Street in the northern section of the city for a trailer fire. Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming from the trailer, entered and found a small kitchen fire.

They were able to control the flames in about five minutes and no one was hurt, according to Battalion Chief Steve Pincus with the Newport News Fire Department.

Pincus said the trailer will be condemned and five residents will be displaced. The American Red Cross was called to assist them.
