NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police say a Newport News Shipyard worker was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend.
Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said a 31-year-old employee was walking from his car to his job at the Shipyard when he was approached by a man trying to get his attention. It happened on May 17 around 8 a.m.
The victim told police the man took out a handgun and demanded his wallet. Eley said the victim tossed the man his wallet. The suspect caught it, and ran away on 50th Street.
The suspect was described as a black male who was about 6 foot to 6’1” tall, with acne on both sides of his face.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
