NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A tractor-trailer that lost it’s load caused major traffic delays on Interstate 64 West in Newport News Monday night.
Just before 5:30 p.m., Virginia State Police responded to the westbound lanes of I-64 at Victory Boulevard for a report of a hazard blocking the roadway, according to Sergeant Michelle Anaya.
A tractor-trailer traveling west lost its load of concrete slabs, Anaya said. Virginia Department of Transportation crews worked with the trucking company for hours to clean the roadway.
During the cleanup, the Victory Blvd. on-ramp and several traffic lanes were shut down.
