Car crashes into Suffolk home

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A car veered off the road and crashed into a house in Suffolk Tuesday afternoon.

Viewer pictures show a white sedan slammed into the covered porch section of the home, which is located where Route 58 meets Manning Bridge Road.

City spokeswoman Diana Klink says the 66-year-old driver was driving eastbound on Holland Road when he drove off the road and hit the home, causing significant structural damage.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle. Rescue personnel had to get him out of the car after the crash. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to be treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

One eastbound lane of Holland Road/Route 58 remains closed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
