Meeting scheduled about Suffolk bear sightings

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — After the recent increase in residential bear sightings, the Suffolk Police Department is holding an informational meeting for the public this week.

At the meeting, a biologist with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will answer questions about bear activity and provide tips on how to prevent interactions with bears, according to Tim Kelly with the city of Suffolk.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Nansemond River High School (3301 Nansemond Parkway).
