HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A fight at Phoebus High School put the school on lockdown for hours Monday.

Around 11:30 a.m., a fight broke out inside the school building and police put the school on lockdown until the end of the school day as a precaution, according to Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division. No one was injured.

Three juvenile students were identified and will be dealt with by the school’s administration, Price said. However, police are also investigating the incident. So far, no one was has been arrested or charged.

After-school activities were cancelled, and Price said there would be extra security at the school Tuesday.

The following message was sent to parents:

Dear Phoebus High School Parents/Guardians,

This is William Beverly, principal of Phoebus High School. The high school was locked down today for precautionary reasons due to a fight on campus. All afterschool activities are cancelled.

The safety and security of our students and staff is a priority, and we will not tolerate disruptions to the school day. I appreciate your support as we work together to ensure a safe school climate at Phoebus High School.
