SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Ronald Quesenberry III, the driver who caused a deadly crash on Route 460 last September, was sentenced Monday.

The felony homicide charge he faced for killing 48-year-old Thomas David Rush of Virginia Beach, was withdrawn.

He will serve a total of five years behind bars for manslaughter, felony reckless driving, driving on a suspended license that was suspended for DUI and operating a vehicle with no ignition interlock. Then he will be on supervised probation for ten years.

Quesenberry entered an Alford plea on the charges during a February hearing, which means he doesn’t admit guilty, but does admit the evidence could convict him.

The deadly crash occurred September 18 in the 4700 block of Route 460. The crash involved eight vehicles and resulted in numerous injuries.
