Admirals eliminated from Calder Cup playoffs

ST. JOHN’s, Newfoundland (WAVY) – The Admirals season came to a close Friday night in Canada. Facing elimination in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Admirals lost to the St. John’s IceCaps 5-2.

After a pair of goals, Norfolk trailed 3-2 heading into the final period, but the Admirals surrendered 2 goals in a 41 second span, and that proved to be the difference.

The 8-seeded Admirals knocked off the top seed Manchester Monarchs in the opening round of the playoffs, and split the opening two games of their series on the road in St. John’s.

The IceCaps responded with back-to-back wins at Scope to take a 3-1 lead in the series.

The Admirals won game 5 in overtime at Scope, forcing the series back to Canada.

The Admirals head home with an even 5-5 record in the playoffs, losing the series, 4-2, to the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, the St. John’s IceCaps.
