Hampton teen wanted in connection to homicide

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton police are looking for an 18-year-old Hampton man in connection to a deadly shooting that happened Friday afternoon.

Investigators are searching for Shalik Xavier Wynn in relation to the homicide.

The shooting occurred just before 1:50 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Spanish Trail, according to Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division. When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Elijah-juan Zaire Vanness of Hampton with a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Paramedics transported Vanness to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside a parked Toyota Camry in the Cordova Apartments parking lot with a 17-year-old male when a suspect approached the vehicle and shot him.
