NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Several homes were damaged by a tractor-trailer fire Thursday in Norfolk.
Battalion Chief Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire and Rescue said the fire was called in just after 11 a.m. in the area of Pretty Lake Avenue and 6th Bay Street. Firefighters arrived and found a pole with live power lines across the truck’s trailer. Smoke and flames were coming from the tractor-trailer, which crews were able to get under control within 30 minutes.
Dominion Virginia Power crews cut service to the downed power lines. Williamson said about 16 homes in the area were without power Thursday afternoon, but service was expected to be restored by evening.
Williamson said the 2600 block of Pretty Lake Avenue was closed to traffic, and several homes were damaged by the heat of the fire.
Williamson said no injuries were reported. The accident is being investigated by the Norfolk Police Department.
