Va. Beach budget funds Sandbridge Road study

Virginia Beach council passes budget

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach City Council adopted a budget Tuesday night that means higher costs for Oceanfront parking and funding for road safety in the Sandbridge area.

Council members voted in approval of the budget, 10-1, without making any changes.

Included is $600,000 to study the safety of Sandbridge Road, and any possible improvements. Last month a crash along the road caused the deaths of three children and a woman.

New parking fees at the Oceanfront are also part of the budget. Beginning this summer, hourly meter rates will increase to $2.
