Crash sends parked car into VB home

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The driver of a vehicle that sent a parked car into a home in Virginia Beach Wednesday morning has been charged with reckless driving.

MPO James Cason with the Virginia Beach Police Department told WAVY.com the call came in around 2:15 a.m. for a car into a house in the 2600 block of Bernadotte Street. The driver of a 1998 Lexus hit a parked car, sending the car into the front door of the home.

Images from the scene show the damaged car near the front door, its bumper hanging off. A tree and mailbox were also damaged.

The driver, identified as Charles K. Brewton III, has minor injuries and was escorted to the hospital by police. Brewton was charged with reckless driving.

The couple renting the home will be staying with neighbors. Cason said the parked vehicle belongs to the homeowner.
