NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News detective was working extra duty at a Wal-Mart last month whens she observed a shoplifter.
The incident happened on April 20, just before 8 p.m. at the store in the 6100 block of Jefferson Avenue. The detective saw a woman concealing candy and other food items in a bag, according to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department.
The suspect was detained and did not have a receipt for the merchandise, Thurston said. She was release while the detective continued the investigation.
Early Tuesday morning, 33-year-old Kisha Renee Robertson of Newport News was arrested and charged with one count petit larceny/shoplifting and two counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
