Lady Monarchs losing their best player

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Old Dominion University senior guard Shae Kelley announced she will transfer to the University of Minnesota for her final year of eligibility.

The 6-foot-1 junior forward from Denver nearly averaged a double-double with 17.8 points and 9.7 rebounds a game. Her scoring average is almost 10 more points a night than the second-leading score Chelsea Painter, who totaled 8.9 points an outing. Kelley finished the season as a first-team All-Conference USA performer.

According to the Pioneer Press, Kelly is transferring to play for Marlene Stollings, the Golden Gophers’ new head coach. Kelley feels Stolling’s coaching style better suits her style of play.
