Jewelry cases smashed in burglary

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A jewelry store was the victim of a burglary in Chesapeake early Tuesday morning.

Ravi Sheth with the Chesapeake Police Department told WAVY.com officers were called to Long Jewelers in the 700 block of Battlefield Boulevard around 12:15 a.m. for a burglary alarm. There, they found the front window knocked out.

Officers think a device was used to break the window, as opposed to a rock. Several jewelry cases inside the store were smashed and items were taken.
