Jewelry cases smashed in burglary

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A jewelry store was the victim of a burglary in Chesapeake early Tuesday morning.

Ravi Sheth with the Chesapeake Police Department told officers were called to Long Jewelers in the 700 block of Battlefield Boulevard around 12:15 a.m. for a burglary alarm. There, they found the front window knocked out.

Officers think a device was used to break the window, as opposed to a rock. Several jewelry cases inside the store were smashed and items were taken.

There is no information on any suspects at this time. Anyone with information should call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
