SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a Suffolk woman was arrested Saturday evening for hindering her boyfriend’s arrest.
Around 9:30 p.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of Delaware Avenue in response to a disturbance call, according to Diana Klink with Suffolk police. There she made contact with Ladawn Kimmel, who had called police about her boyfriend Clayton Williams.
Williams was ultimately arrested for domestic assault and battery, but while he was being placed in a police vehicle, Kimmel approached officers and said she didn’t want him arrested.
“She attempted to get in between the officers and the arrestee and refused to obey verbal commands and bumped into the officer, struck the officer in the chest and smacked at the officer’s hands,” Klink said.
Kimmel, 43, was charged with assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and being drunk in public.
