Narcotics arrest made on Roanoke Island

MANTEO, N.C. (WAVY) — Task force officers made a narcotics arrest on Roanoke Island Thursday.

An investigation led the Dare County Narcotics Task Force to serve a search warrant at a residence on Francis Drake Street, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Department.

Cash, crack cocaine and marijuana that was packaged for sale was seized from the home. Hoggard said two people were arrested.

Hatten Spencer, Jr., 70, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and maintain a vehicle/dwelling/place to keep controlled substance. He was taken to the Dare County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.

Cleston Edward McMurran, 48, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and maintain a vehicle/dwelling/place to keep controlled substance. He was also served the following outstanding warrants: two counts possession with the intent to sell or deliver cocaine, two counts, sell or deliver cocaine, manufacture/sell/deliver/possess controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

McMurran was taken to the Dare County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
