GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A cremation may have sparked a fire Saturday at a Gloucester County funeral home.
Robert Parlett with Abington Volunteer Fire and Rescue said the fire started just after 8 a.m. in the crematorium building, next to the funeral home at Hogg Funeral on Route 17.
Flames were coming through the roof when firefighters arrived, and crews were able to get the fire under control in about 10 minutes.
No one was hurt.
Parlett said he believes a cremation was taking place when the fire started, but the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
