VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Police have arrested a man officers say abducted and robbed a woman in Virginia Beach over the weekend.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Holland Plaza Shopping Center. Police say the victim was walking to her vehicle after leaving a tanning salon when the suspect approached her and forced her into the passenger seat of her vehicle.

The suspect took the victim to an ATM. When they got to the Navy Federal Credit Union in the 4000 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard, she withdrew cash.

Further investigation led officers to James Clifton Pree, Jr., 45, of Virginia Beach. Pree was arrested and charged with abduction, robbery, carjacking and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The ordeal lasted several hours and ended with the victim being tied with a rope and left in her vehicle.

Additionally, Pree has been identified as a suspect in another carjacking in Virginia Beach. On Aug. 30, a woman was carjacked in the 3700 block of Snowdrift Circle.

The suspect approached the victim and implied he had a weapon. He then forced the victim from the vehicle and drove off. She was not hurt.

Police say the suspect then went to a Miller Mart on Independence Boulevard and forcibly removed money from the cash register.

Pree has been charged with carjacking and robbery in connection to the Aug. 30 incident.
