PD: Man stole envelope full of cash at auction

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police are trying to identify the man who stole an envelope full of cash at an auction.

Officer Daniel Hudson said the larceny happened just before 1 p.m. on February 13 at the City of Norfolk Fleet Maintenance garage on Lance Road.

There was an auction held there that day, and afterwards the victim put an envelope with $1000 of cash on a counter and accidentally left it there. Hudson said the suspect saw the victim leave the building, slipped the envelope into his jacket pocket and left.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 5’ 8” – 5’11” tall, approximately 190-220 lbs., wearing a dark colored jacket, blue jeans, and a black stocking hat.
