According to a Chowan County spokesperson, the state is looking into other assistance options for tornado victims in that county. Officials do not know how long that process will take.

Volunteers are still in Chowan County, continuing to help victims. The tipping fee waiver for storm-related debris is set to expire May 16 at 5 p.m.
