Graffiti turning up in downtown Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Graffiti is showing up in Norfolk’s downtown Arts and Design District. The area is along Granby Street between Olney Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard.

There is now spray paint on the side of a building at the former Zedd’s parking lot. There’s also a larger display on a vacant building off Olney Road.

“I think it’s more vandalism than art. I think tagging could be really neat. A lot of murals in the area… and a lot happening here in the area. But, nah, I don’t like this,” said Aurie Maramaldi, an owner’s friend.

A City spokesperson told WAVY.com the Codes Enforcement Division will notify the building owner, who is responsible for removing the graffiti.
