Fire sparks at Newport News home

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Crews in Newport News battled a fire at a home Friday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief Robert Craft said the fire sparked in the 800 block of 79th Street around noon. On scene, smoke and flames were seen coming from the home.

It took about 10 minutes for crews to get the fire under control. No one was injured.

The American Red Cross is assisting one adult and three children in the home. The cause was determined to be accidental and was electrical in nature.
