Suspect wanted in community center shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton Police are searching for a man officers say shot a person he knew at the Phoebus Community Center Thursday night.

Cpl. Mary Shackelford said the shooting occurred in the 200 block of West Chamberlin Avenue, just off Old Buckroe Road. The suspect, 26-year-old Delonta Wilson, is accused of pulling out a gun and firing a round that hit the victim in the lower torso.

Police say Wilson then took the victim’s property.

Witnesses told WAVY.com the victim was found lying in the street. Police say the victim remains in the hospital.
