Man robbed after walking in on burglary

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News Police need help finding three suspects who robbed a man at gunpoint over the weekend.

Officer Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said the robbery occurred Sunday around 7:15 p.m. The victim arrived home at his apartment in the 400 block of Turlington Road and saw two safes and an Xbox 360 system of his on the ground by the entrance of the breezeway. When he went inside his apartment, he saw three suspects with handguns.

One suspect hit the victim in the head with a gun and he was ordered to the floor as cash, his cell phone, watch and keys were taken. The victim was forced into a closet and told to stay there or he’d be shot.

When the suspects left, the victim discovered his vehicle, a 2005 Toyota, was missing.

The suspects are described as black males in their mid-20s of average height. They were all wearing white shirts at the time of the robbery.
