Coast Guard helps disabled boat off NC coast

BALD HEAD ISLAND, N.C. (WAVY) – The Coast Guard rescued two people Thursday aboard a disabled boat off Bald Head Island, North Carolina.

According to a news release from the Coast Guard, someone aboard the 33-foot sport fishing boat Atlanta called for help around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday after the boat lost steering.

A crew was dispatched aboard a Motor Life Boat from Coast Guard Station Oak Island to assist. They arrived and placed the Atlanta in tow.

A second crew aboard a 25-foot Response Boat also responded early Thursday to relieve the first crew, and towed the Atlanta into Southport Marina in Southport.
