VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach is taking steps to make a dangerous road safer.
Tuesday, City Council approved a recommendation for a $600,000 study for road improvements along Sandbridge Road. About half of that will go towards making immediate improvements, including signage and lighting.
Council members, like Barbara Henley, spoke glowingly about the vote.
“I am absolutely delighted that we were really able to address all three of these projects, ’cause they all come together in that corridor that we have such a great need for,” Henley said. “So this is, with Mr. Sessoms and Mr. Jones doing the reconciliation, they did a great job.”
Other recommendations agreed upon on Tuesday include a plan to replace the Oceanfront bus fleet with trolleys.
Council will officially vote next week.
