Admirals, John Gibson win game one vs. St. John’s 3-1

ST. JOHN’s, NI. (WAVY) — The Norfolk Admirals defeated the St. John’s Ice Caps 3-1 in game one of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Norfolk takes a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven series and now how has control of home-ice advantage.

Rookie Nic Kerdiles scored twice, including an empty-netter in the win. Veteran John Kurtz provided the game-winner in the third period, but the real story was 20-year-old goaltender John Gibson. The Rookie made 42 saves in the win.

Game two is tomorrow night in St. John’s. The series shifts to Norfolk on Saturday night for game 3. Game 4 is scheduled for Monday.
