VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Two workers were injured in a construction accident in Virginia Beach Monday afternoon.
A crew was resetting a concrete beam at a site near Town Center, in the 4800 block of Columbus Street, around 2 p.m. when the concrete collapsed and fell about 12 feet to the ground.
Two workers fell as a result of the accident. One was knocked from a hydraulic cherry picker; the other was standing on top of the concrete beam. Both have minor injuries, according to Bat. Chief Amy Valdez with the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
Some hydraulic fluid and oil leaked, but Valdez said there are no environmental hazards.
