PD: Argument led to stabbing

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a man was stabbed by someone he knew in Suffolk Friday evening.

Around 6:14 p.m., officers and fire-rescue crews responded to the 100 block of Day Street for a report of a stabbing, according to Diana Klink with Suffolk Police. Upon arrival, they found a 49-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest after an argument with someone he knew.

The victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries that were believed to not be life-threatening.

Shortly afterwards, officers were able to locate and apprehend the suspect near the intersection of Market Street and North Main Street. Robert Henry Smith, 63, of Suffolk was charged with aggravated malicious wounding.
