VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – There was a long line outside the Virginia Beach SPCA Saturday morning.

About a dozen Australian Shepherd puppies rescued from a North Carolina home back in March were ready for adoption Saturday.

Officials in Hertford County rescued dozens of dogs from a hoarding situation. Sheriff Juan Vaughn told WAVY.com at the time that investigators considered it a case of animal hoarding, rather than a puppy mill. 60 Australian Shepherd dogs, including 13 puppies, were found on a property along Pine Tops Road. The owner of that property was charged with animal cruelty in connection to the case.

The puppies spent a little over a month with foster families. Many of the older dogs have already been adopted.
