NORFOLK, Va. – A South Carolina woman will spend more than 12 years in prison for a bank robbery spree in Virginia.
Nicole Racquel Drakeford, 44, of Fountain Island was sentenced Wednesday for armed bank robbery and using, carrying and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, according to Deanna Warren with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Drakeford pleaded guilty to the offenses on January 27.
In addition to robberies in Northern Virginia, the statement of facts that were filed with her plea agreement state Drakeford admitted to the armed robbery of a Chartway Federal Credit Union in Chesapeake on July 31, 2013. During that robbery, she took approximately $302.
Drakeford’s prison sentence will be followed by a term of supervised release, Warren said.
