NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a vehicle overturned in the Ghent after its driver evaded a traffic stop and crashed into another vehicle Wednesday evening.
Karen Parker-Chesson with Norfolk Police said officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver didn’t stop and continued at a high speed. Officers didn’t go after the vehicle, but shortly afterwards, around 5:15 p.m., a 911 call came in for a crash at the intersection of 19th Street and Granby Street.
Parker-Chesson said the suspect vehicle had crashed with another vehicle, and when police arrived at the scene, the suspect vehicle was turned on it’s side. The driver of the suspect vehicle got out and fled on foot before being apprehended by officers, and arrested.
The passenger in the suspect vehicle was ejected and transported by medics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Parker-Chesson said information about charges would be released Thursday morning. Count on WAVY.com to keep you updated with the latest developments of this story.
