NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Five juveniles were taken into custody Tuesday night after a pursuit involving two stolen vehicles.
Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department said it all started at 9:50 p.m. in the area of West 28th Street and Colley Avenue when officers spotted a stolen Dodge Caravan. Officers said another stolen vehicle, a Ford sedan, appeared to be following the Caravan.
Parker-Chesson said officers tried to stop the Caravan, but the driver did not stop, prompting police to call for another patrol unit. Police pursued both stolen vehicles, which both crashed.
One pursuit ended near Killam Avenue, and the second ended at Mayflower Road and New York Avenue. Parker-Chesson said the suspects inside both vehicles got out and fled on foot. All occupants, five juveniles, were taken into custody at 9:54 p.m. after brief chases on foot.
One of the suspects was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Parker-Chesson said the juveniles were taken to the Police Operations Center, and released to their parents or guardians. Investigators did not say how old the juveniles are, and they did not release any additional information.
Police are continuing to investigate the incidents.
