Felon charged in Chesapeake homicide

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Police have made an arrest in a homicide where a shooting victim was found lying on a road Wednesday.

Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Paramont Avenue for an injured person lying in the roadway. There, they found Pierre Johnson, 21, of Portsmouth shot to death.

Hampton Roads Homicides

Witnesses gave investigators a description of a person seen walking from the area. The suspect was spotted and tried to flee from investigators. He was later captured.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Devontae McKiver of Chesapeake, was arrested and charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
