Suspect charged after Norfolk Cash Advance robbery

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man was arrested and charged following a robbery at a Cash Advance in Norfolk Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives discovered a male suspect entered the business around 1:30 p.m., armed with a handgun, according to Officer Daniel R. Hudson. The suspect was seen walking away from the scene, which is in the 5800 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd.

Hudson said 51-year-old Ronald Lee Mabine, of Chesapeake, was arrested Tuesday not long after the robbery. Mabine is charged with abduction (extort money or immoral purpose), robbery, use or display of a firearm in commission of a felony, possess, transport a firearm by a convicted felon, and wearing a mask in a public place. Mabine was being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

There were no injuries reported in connection to the robbery.
