Crews battle fire at Va. Beach business

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Fire crews are investigating the cause of a fire that ignited inside a Virginia Beach business Tuesday evening.

Firefighters responded to the 900 block of Diamond Springs Road after a 911 call around 8:15 p.m. about a commercial fire, according to Battalion Chief Humphries.

The business, Zoots Cleaners, was closed and not occupied at the time of the fire.When crews arrived, there was smoke and flames coming from the building, but it only took a few minutes to control, Humphries said.

Some materials and clothing inside caught fire, but no dry cleaning chemicals were involved.

No one was injured and no other businesses were affected.

Humphries said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and remains under investigation. Stay with WAVY.com for updates as they become available.
